Events

Axle/Log Clean and Press

There will be an axle and a log, side-by-side, both loaded to the same weight. The competitor may choose to do reps on either or both implements. The competitor may start with their hands on the implement, but may not lift until the judge gives the “go” command. Knees, hips and elbows must be locked out, and no rep will count unless the judge gives the “down” command. Weights must be controlled – the axle may be dropped, the log must be followed down. Every rep will be cleaned from the floor (or potentially from pads for some lighter classes). Sleeves and belts allowed, we don’t care if the axle touches your belt, and no you can’t use tacky or straps. No, you still can’t rest the log on your head, either.

  • 60 Second Time Limit
  • Equipment Allowed: Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, Belts, Gloves, Chalk, Grip Shirts
  • Equipment Not Allowed: Elbow Wraps, Tacky, Spray Tack, Tack Towel Straps

Last Man Standing 18″ Deadlift

We will use a deadlift bar with calibrated plates, pulled from blocks. We’ll use the lowest opening weight requested on competition day. Ladies’ weights will rise in 20lb increments, men’s weights will rise in 30lb increments. Competitors do not have to take every lift – they may step in or out as desired – but once they’ve failed a 30 second attempt, they’re out. For each weight attempt, competitors have 30 seconds from the judge’s “go” command to strap in, lift, and get a “down” command. Knees and hips must be locked out, and no lift will count until a “down” command is given. Straps and suits allowed. Baby powder is allowed, but please apply it outside. Don’t be the guy who flings it around like fairy dust – nobody likes that guy.

  • 60 Second Time Limit
  • Equipment Allowed: Sleeves, Wraps, Belts, Gloves, Deadlift Suits, Briefs, Baby Powder, Chalk
  • Equipment Not Allowed: Tacky, Spray Tack, Tack Towel

Max Distance Husafell

Athletes will pick a Hi-Temp Husafell from a block and carry it down, touch the line, and return, repeating the process for as long as possible. The lane will be 50’ or longer – we will make it as long as possible, because nobody really likes turning with a Husafell. There is no time limit. Enjoy!

  • Equipment Allowed: Sleeves, Wraps, Belts, Gloves, Chalk, Briefs, Grip Shirts
  • Equipment Not Allowed: Tacky, Spray Tack, Tack Towel

Yoke Carry

Athletes will start under the yoke, but may not pick it up until they get the start command. Athletes will carry the yoke 50’ down, drop it, turn around, repick and carry the yoke 50’ back. Time stops when the front of the implement crosses the line. Unlimited drops allowed.

  • 60 Second Time Limit
  • Equipment Allowed: Sleeves, Wraps, Belts, Gloves, Chalk, Briefs, Grip Shirts
  • Equipment Not Allowed: Tacky, Spray Tack, Tack Towel

Seated Arm-Over-Arm Pull

Athletes will be seated with feet against a footboard, pulling a weighted sled. They may begin on the judge’s command and have 60 seconds to pull the sled the full distance. Fastest time (or farthest distance) wins. Weights will be decided on show day, depending on surface friction.

  • 60 Second Time Limit
  • Equipment Allowed: Sleeves, Wraps, Belts, Gloves, Chalk
  • Equipment Not Allowed: Tacky, Spray Tack, Tack Towel

Weight Matrix

The Axle/Log Clean and Press has a second weight option. If you don’t get the first weight, you can try the second. Getting any reps on the first option is worth more than any number of reps on the second. This lets us keep it heavy but also make it more accessible to strength athletes of all levels.
